September 11th 2001 was a tragic day in United States history, although you don't need me to tell you that. Thousands died in the terrorist attacks against our nation when the twin towers fell on that dreadful morning. We need to remember those who have fallen, all the victims as well as all the men and women who gave their lives in their line of service.
People seem to forget how lucky we are as a nation. We are truly free, and we protect that freedom every day, but the thing is many take that for granted. Imagine if you were living in a totalitarianistic country ruled by a vicious dictator who could end your life at will. You're life is in danger everyday, and you most likely don't get to choose what your career is, go to school, or even have a hobby. Don't get me wrong there are parts that are rough in the U.S. but they are nothing compared to those overseas. Many of us forget that we have extensive privileges that we can pick from whenever we please. People in third world countries have barely get by, if at all. My point here is that we must be grateful for what we have, because in most parts of the world other people have it worse.
My sympathy goes out to the victims family and whoever is deeply affected by the collapse of the World Trade Center. I just wanted to remind people how lucky we are as a nation and I like to use 9/11 as way of bringing our nation together, and to say thank you to all the men and women who lost their lives protecting ours.
